Doing What We Do, Supernatural, R Fandom: Supernatural Title: Doing What We Do Characters: John, Sam, Dean, Pastor Jim Rating: R for theme Word Count: 967 Summary: Last year, for the xmas_kinkathon, I wrote It Wasn't You for linda92595...and varkelton has spent the entire year telling me how awful I am that the fic was all hurt and no comfort. There isn't a lot of comfort to offer, but they are Winchesters...and they deal with things by doing what they do. A/Ns & Warnings: For varkelton as a wee little Christmas offering. I know, I'm a sick puppy to offer you rape-recovery fic, for Christmas, but there you go. The definition of our friendship. LOL. Warnings: This follows on It Wasn't You and thus deals with the aftermath of both possession and rape. ( He could still feel her rage, her delight at being able to exact revenge through him, because he'd given her the idea. ) |

Happy belated birthday, Viki! Here's some music for you: three songs each from four bands and singers I love. The files are at Box.net, which means (for those unfamiliar with it) that you can listen to the songs as well as download them. Mylene Farmer. I can't help loving her songs even when they are kitchy 'cos the woman is so artistic. I love her videos too! CaliforniaJe te rends ton amourL'ame-stram-gramMy beloved Rammstein released a new album. I can't say I loved all of it (I never do though) but I liked half of the songs. Fruhling in Paris -- this one is the best, as for me, from this album. Also, Till singing in foreign languages is sexy :) Here he sings in French. Rammlied -- the opening song of the album and yet another version of Rammstein including their own name in their song. Fun! And quite strong. Pussy -- the notorious Pussy, the one of the NC-17 video, with which R+ came back after their years of silence. My beloved Pulp. I know you know and like some songs of theirs. Do you like their Separations though? It's one of their first albums and still my favourite of theirs. Actually, this was the album that turned me from classical music to pop and rock :) I don't like what Jarvis Cocker does now and didn't like even their last album with Pulp. IMO it lost all their earlier vitality. But still, they hold a very special place in my heart :) Separations, the title song. Don't You Want Me Anymore -- a bit morbid, more than a bit ironic and role-playing, and all-in-all wonderful melodically. Acryllic Afternoons, from His'n'Hers. And my beloved The Cranberries. I swear, I listen to Dolores O'Riordan mewl and scream while trying not to hear the lyrics. She's, to put it mildly, not a good poet. But her energy! Her voice! I love it :) I Just Shot John LennonElectric BlueHollywoodAnd here's the link to the entire folder. Enjoy! :)

Wants and Needs, RPS (Daddy!Kink), NC-17 Fandom: Supernatural RPS Title: Wants and Needs (daddy!kink!verse, all of which will eventually be archived: here, directly follows Tell Me What You Need) Characters/Pairings: JDM/CK, CK/SC, CK/JP, CK/JA, JDM/CK/SC/JA/JP Rating: NC-17 Word Count: ~6000 Summary: Jeff has decided that Chris needs to understand that he's loved, so he takes him to Chicago, where Daddy's boys tell Chris exactly that, in a language that he understands. A/Ns & Warnings: Written for ziplockeddaze, for her generosity and helpful attitude. Warnings include a fair amount of angst and a lot of schloomp. I hope you like this, my dear! ( Jeff had broken through every defense he had and he had only said it when Chris was vulnerable, when Chris would feel it and no matter how much parts of him wanted it, the idea was stifling and overwhelming and brought him right up to the edge of himself. ) Current Mood: cheerful |

Art Rec and a Request... Oh, wow, there has been so much fantastic art this season. \O/ But I just had to make a quick rec for vimessy's art series beginning here. She is drawing a serial comic based on Telanu's Your Horoscope for Today. She has already completed parts 1 - 4. You should check it out if you have a moment. And you may want to re-read Telanu's classic fic because it is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. And who couldn't do with a few more of those? ;D ( More blather and heartfelt thanks ) |

Update and Merlin Art... I have just two - count em, TWO - more batches of caramel corn and DOBBY IS FREE!!!!!! True, nothing is baked for my own family but I never want to see another cookie again. So it's all good. ;D The marathon cookie baking is used as client gifts and the list grows each year. If anyone other than Al volunteered me for so much non-Snarry related work, I would have poisoned their tea by this point. I should have had everything out by the 6th, but instead it all has to be out by tomorrow. There's too much to do otherwise and I have been baking/icing/dipping 16 hours a day for the past eight days. I'm goofing off resting now and will finish up tonight. Then I can start buying gifts. *sigh* And speaking of gifts - OMG, so much pretty art has come my way in the past week. There is seekrit art for the Snarry-a-Thon banner which I'm dying to show everyone now *swoons* as well as a few more Snarry pieces that should be appearing by their various creators soon. Until then, perselus drew me another Merlin piece that I can share now. It is mild, but still NWS. If you like it - and how could you not? - and you want something of your own, perselus is currently taking commissions for both original and fan art. ( NWS Merlin art under the cut... )ETA: Oh, and last_raindrop your card and prezzie just arrived! So adorable! **hugs** |

SGA Santa fics are here! sga_santa is off and running, and posting fics. Already. We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas.... Hung out with wolfshark yesterday. In RL she's a solid, reliable sort with a healthy dose of sardonic humor. Just the type of person you'd want to run comms and see projects through to the end. *tips hat to Sharkie* And I've now been informed that Victoria Bitter of "Bit Of Earth" donation scam infamy (who absconded with tens of thousands of dollars and tricked Sean Astin into supporting the not-actually-a-charity) has joined the HP fandom. Bitter is refusing all donations -- unless you insist. In which case there's a PayPal link. *head scratch* Do I have a PayPal link? Should I have a PayPal link? I mean, if you absolutely insist.... |

Switches to beta mode. When the muse falls silent ... edit. For the first time in years, I'm doing as much beta reading as writing. A friend gave me a newspaper article. The time spent actually writing equals the amount that gets written. I can take a hint. *gets back to work on that comic McFluff* Current Mood: accomplished |

A/Ns & Warnings: For devon99 for generosity and all around awesomeness. Established Colby/Charlie relationship, in this case Amita and Charlie never got together. SGA Santa I'm really not sure my recipient is going to like the story I've written her. I've, er, sort of gone off topic with her choices.
I think I'd better give her two stories, just in case she hates this one.

An UnDeath in the Batfamily Talking about recent scans about one of S_D's favorite talking points inspired me to talk about him myself: Jason Todd. There's not a lot of agreement about this character throughout fandom, but the one thing people do seem to agree on is that editorial has not handled him well at all. ( And this was my take on that--which got long. ) Current Mood: thoughtful |

Animated film rec: 9, sort of vs. Dragon Hunters |
9 [] Rated PG-13 for violence and scary images. Runtime: 79 minutes. Director: Shane Acker Summary: When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them. | My notes: BFF ordered me to watch this film 'cos she had seen a couple of scenes from it and fell in love with the visuals. So I did. I liked it fine, especially the visual side, yes. Landscapes, the dolls, those factories and machines. If you like steampunk, go for it! I did find it very, very pleasant for the eyes. Not quite an eye candy 'cos it's all greyish-brownish and raw and dusty but it looks really nice. I even liked the story for the most part. It's quite charming, and the story of a small individual becoming a hero in order to save the world, figuring things out, gathering courage and strength, well, it's cliché of course but it's a sure win as far as modern action/adventure goes. But at the same time, I found it annoying. I mean, if you have such a well-established heroic cliché, there's no need to make it even more cliché by making the villain a Hitler in such a non-metaphorical way. I mean, sometimes it's OK to believe that your spectators aren't completely stupid, so there's no need to put things in their mouth and chew for them. Sometimes you can create a more far-fetched metaphor, say, as Tolkien did in LotR or as Hiromu Arakawa does in Fullmetal Alchemist, and your audience will get it. Or on the contrary: make him Hitler, no a Hitler-like something. Don't dance around trying to side-step every dangerous thing. Another thing that annoyed me was 7 at the very end of it. The dolls are more or less sexless, more boy/men-like than girl/woman-like but whatever. I liked it that the story wasn't about love, that it wasn't about how family saves everything -- which, let's be frank, Hollywood feeds us so much as to make one want to stay single forever. But then [spoiler] 7 acquired some distinctly lady-like expressions, nearly batting eyelashes. WTF? Will they now hold hand and knit baby dolls or something?[/end spoiler] And this leads me to the following. I liked Dragon Hunters much better ( my review). They are seemingly nothing alike, Dragon Hunters and 9. It's just that they both are about small people saving the world and that something in the animation looks similar to me. So, while I'm ready to rave about Dragon Hunters for ages, this review is about 9 and regretfully, I'm not prepared to squeal about it. Yes, I enjoyed it. Yes, it's a real pleasure for the eyes. But I expected more. The animation made me expect more originality from the plot, and it might be completely my fault that I was so ready to fall in love but in the end, merely liked it. But like it I did. Give it a try! |
